About Us

Musings on Art is an educational resource for both artists and art collectors. Established over a decade ago by a female artist, our mission is to provide women a platform to not only sell their art, but also to discuss and educate all themes related to the art world. We provide articles, videos and a wide selection of books on topics related to the art world.All proceeds from sales go directly to benefit women artists. 

In addition to our educational mission, Musings Fine Art represents award-winning established artists from around the world, making their artwork available for sale online. We are a direct importer of Russian art from the Soviet Era offering the best of Soviet Realism, Russian Impressionism and the Leningrad School of Painting. We also have a large collection of limited edition and art prints of contemporary, as well as historical masters works.

Cathy Locke
founder, editor-in-chief

Musings on Art was founded by artist and professor Cathy Locke. She holds two honorary degrees – a B.F.A. from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and a M.F.A. from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Currently Cathy is a professor for the graduate department at the Academy of Art University. She has received nearly forty accolades for her work, including ones from the Pastel Society of America, Art Directors Club of New York, Society of Illustrators, the Pastel Journal and Campaign Papers. For nearly a decade Cathy traveled to Russia to learn about Russian art from numerous experts.

Georgia Modi

Georgia Modi is a Chicago based photographer, writer and social media expert. She holds an honorary double degree – a B.F.A. from Lake Forest College in photography and English.
